Orbital
Overview
While checking M.A.I.L. for new weaves to try out, I came across Orbital by hockywierdo55. This simple weave from the Japanese family is one of the simplest examples of orbital ring connections and, thus, a good introduction. I found this tutorial by Phong and recommend it if you need any help making this yourself.
Materials
For the sample piece showcased in this post, I made the rings myself. I used 16 SWG Bright Aluminum wire from The Ring Lord coiled around a 9mm mandrel (for an approximate ID of 9mm) for an AR of 5.5.
Notes
I found the Orbital weave quite simple to understand and very easy to create. Its appearance is quite plain. This weave is well suited for making bracelets, necklaces, and cords since it has a round cross-section. While the weave has limited visual appeal and no unique use cases, I still recommend trying it out to practice working with orbital connections.
